Turned into Racist Stereotypes
New York, the big Apple, the biggest city in the country. Being from rural North Carolina, the boys hadn’t had many opportunities to visit cities like this one. So, when their parents agreed to let them go on a trip for Spring Break on their high school graduation year, they immediately agreed to go spend the week in New York. Nightlife, constant buzz and nonstop party, these things were inexistent in their small quiet town, which only had one small pub, if it could even be called that. One thing the town also lacked was racial diversity, which New York has aplenty. This lack of exposure to minorities and other cultures not only left these boys with a closed mindset, but with a bias that leaned towards stereotyping.
