You had a very profitable business that kept you very occupied, but also very well off. You made so much money that your lovely wife didn’t even have to hold a job, and could focus on her art, which didn’t bring home much money, but which she loved a lot. And with that, you could still afford quite a sizable house, and save up enough money to travel once or twice a year, another of Maddie’s passions. This all made the long hours at work worth it, and made you enjoy the time you did spend with your wife even more. You were just in the middle of eating one of her fantastic home cooked meals, chatting about how both your respective days had gone, when the doorbell rang. They take our appearance, use our language to communicate, they wear or clothes, eat and breathe like normal people, but they most definitely aren’t people. They don’t have our base desires, our impulses and our needs. Wielding unlimited power, they don’t thirst for global domination, riches and fame, as all those things would be easily within their grasp, too easily. Instead, they take their life’s pleasure in messing with people, changing them, their jobs, their relationship, their bodies and even their thoughts, leaving them stuck in a new undesired life.
