It was a relaxing evening. You were having dinner with your wife, Madison, enjoying some well-earned time together. You had a very profitable business that kept you very occupied, but also very well off. You made so much money that your lovely wife didn’t even have to hold a job, and could focus on her art, which didn’t bring home much money, but which she loved a lot. And with that, you could still afford quite a sizable house, and save up enough money to travel once or twice a year, another of Maddie’s passions. This all made the long hours at work worth it, and made you enjoy the time you did spend with your wife even more. You were just in the middle of eating one of her fantastic home cooked meals, chatting about how both your respective days had gone, when the doorbell rang. You looked at each other, slightly surprised, as you weren’t expecting anyone. Getting up from your seat, you opened the door, and smiled awkwardly when you recognized the face of your long-time friend Bruce ...

Tricksters are interesting beings. Blessed with reality altering powers, they can alter objects, people, thoughts, anything you can imagine really. But Tricksters aren’t humans per say. They take our appearance, use our language to communicate, they wear or clothes, eat and breathe like normal people, but they most definitely aren’t people. They don’t have our base desires, our impulses, and our needs. Wielding unlimited power, they don’t thirst for global domination, riches, and fame, as all those things would be easily within their grasp, too easily. Instead, they take their life’s pleasure in messing with people, changing them, their jobs, their relationship, their bodies and even their thoughts, leaving them stuck in a new undesired life. People changed this way usually remember who they were before, but their new personalities are overpowering, and so they are stuck acting like the people they become, whether they like it or not. Sometimes, the changes have some reason and meaning...

The city wasn’t large, and it only had a few unreliable bus lines. Yet when people in need required to get to one point from another, sometimes, there was a strange bus that arrived just on time, that seemed to be mysteriously heading exactly where they needed to. This bus wasn’t part of any specific route, didn’t run on a specific schedule, didn’t even need to be called. It just showed up, somehow, ready to board the passengers for only a few coins. And the unsuspecting passengers would be too relieved and in a hurry to question its sudden appearance, or the strange glow in the driver’s eyes, as he welcomes them on board. They would sit down, unaware that as they head to their destination, they would slowly but surely change, so that they walk out the bus completely different people from when they walked in, all according to where they were heading originally.
