Lost at County Fair
It was a beautiful day at the state fair, the sun was shining, kids were running around laughing, sounds of games, arcades and rides resounding through the summer air made for a joyous and festive ambiance. But, most importantly, you were truly, deeply happy. Arm wrapped around your beautiful wife, there was nowhere else you would rather be in the world than by her side. You had played a few games here and there already, grabbed a few snacks to eat, and now you were just relaxing, enjoying each other’s company, and chatting without a care in the world. The two of you had met many years ago, and it had been Love at first sight. And now that you had been married for a few years, the discussion was gravitating towards the future, and when to start having kids. You were both in a good place with your jobs, owned a decent sized house, everything was in place start raising a family. And your wife Melissa couldn’t agree more. But then all the soft drinks started getting to you, or more specifically your bladder, and you both decided it was time for a quick bathroom break.
“See you in a minute my love.” Melissa said playfully as she
entered the ladies’ side, and you the men’s side. She could be so corny at
times, but it was part of what made you love her even more. Once you were done
with your business you went out and waited for her near the doors. And waited.
And waited some more. It was usually a little longer for ladies, but never this
long. You took out your cellphone and tried messaging her, but you had no
signal. So, starting to feel worried, you started asking random people coming
out and going in of the women’s bathroom to see if someone matching her
description was still in there, and one of the ladies who went in then back out
confirmed there was no one else in there at the moment, she really wasn’t
there.
You started panicking. It wasn’t like her to
just disappear without a trace, especially not in a crowded public place like
this. You made your way to your car, to see if maybe she was waiting there, but
no such luck. After waiting a few minutes to see if she would show up, you
decided to head back to the fair and look for her there. As you started
speaking to a security guard, describing her appearance, and the last place you
had seen her, when a young man, with a short, trimmed beard and stylish hair,
seemed to overhear you talking, and walked up to you.
“I think I saw that girl that you are describing somewhere
near the cotton candy stand. I can help you look for her, if you want.”
You typically didn’t like asking for help, but the young man
seemed earnest enough, and you were getting desperate, so you agreed, thanked
the guard for his help, and followed the guy.
“Hey man thanks for helping me, I’ve been looking for her
for an hour now, I was starting to get worried. What’s your name by the way?”
“Sam! How about you? And who is this girl to you anyway?”
“Nice to meet you, Sam! I am Richard, but you can call me
Rich. Melissa is my wife… I hope she is okay, it’s not like her to just ditch
me like that.”
“Relax man, she probably just went to grab some snacks. I am
sure you will be with the love of your life in no time…”
Had you been focused more on the man by your side and less
on looking around searching for Melissa’s face in the crowd, you might have
noticed the small smirk on his face as he said that last part, as if he knew
something you didn’t. But instead, you kept on tagging along with him,
following him to the Cotton Candy stand, frantically looking around for your
wife near the stand, but still no sign of her.
“Don’t worry Rich, I’m sure she’s around. Say, while we’re
here, don’t you think we should grab one ourselves? I bet those are really good!”
You were about to protest, tell him that you didn’t have
time for that, you had to look for your wife, but suddenly you found yourself
craving for sugar. Looking at the stand, just the sight of the soft pillowy
treat made your mouth water. Sam was right, might as well get one since you
were already here. But then after that, definitely go back to searching for
Melissa. You nodded to your companion, and he turned to the employee, signaling
for two of the sweet candy. She nodded and set about to preparing them, while
you waited anxiously.
For the first time in the last hour, you
focused on something else than finding your wife, instead staring at the
spinning machine, watching the lady behind the counter dip in the carboard
cone, the fuzzy pink cloud accumulating on it in a hypnotizing manner. In the
end, it was a monstruous size whirlwind of sweetness that was handed to you.
You immediately took a bite, the feeling of sugar dissolving on your palate was
exquisite. Sam on his hand was handing cash to the employee, grabbing his own
cotton candy. You felt a little weird that this guy you just met was paying for
you, but then again, it was his idea. And besides, it did feel nice to have a
cute guy like him buy you stuff, you thought as you took another bite of the
overly sweet cloud, the taste exploding in your mouth, creating an
overstimulation in your brain. As you finished you treat sitting on a bench
next to Sam, you suddenly remembered there was something you needed to do.
“Wait! We still haven’t found Melissa!” You say, still
feeling fuzzy, like there was cotton candy in your brain. Your voice felt off…
High pitched and feminine. Your mouth and throat must simply be parched from
all that sugar.
“Oh yeah, your sister, right? Well, if she isn’t here, she
must be somewhere else. How about we hit the games stands, see if we can find
her there? And if she isn’t then we can have some fun while we wait…”
When Sam said the word sister, you felt it was wrong. Wasn’t
she supposed to be your girlfriend or something? But no, that didn’t make any
sense, you weren’t into girls, you were into boys, rugged and handsome men.
Like Sam, gosh he was cute. You were so lucky that he offered to help you find
your sister, you would have been terrified, alone is this big park full of
people. Taking your hand, he dragged you along, zigzagging between other
attendees, making your way to the part of the fair where the arcades and games
were.
As you got there you looked around for Melissa but couldn’t
see as far as you would have liked, due to the crowd of people, and your short
stature. But you didn’t mind, you weren’t in a hurry. The longer it took you to
find your sister, the more time you would spend with Sam, and you quite enjoyed
his company. You looked up at him with dreamy eyes, tucking a long strand of
blond hair, just like your sister, behind your ear. Taking a pause from
searching through the crowd, he looked down at you with his piercing dark eyes
and smiled, causing you to giggle sheepishly, your face heating up and becoming
red. Why did you always act like a little embarrassed girl whenever you were
with a boy you liked? But he still seemed to find you amusing at least, so
maybe you had a shot with him after all. You just had to make the most of the
time you had left with him. Looking around, you spotted a stand with plushies
as prizes, where you had to throw darts at balloons and pop as many as you
could.
“Hey Sam, betcha you can’t win me a cute
Giraffe at that game.” You smiled at him, as he gave you a defiant, confident
look.
“Oh yeah? Well watch me, Rae!” He grabbed your hand and made
his way to the stand, with you giggling girlishly the whole way, putting down a
few bills on the counter in exchange for a set of five darts. Taking one of the
darts and aiming carefully, he threw it and… POP! One of the balloons exploded
under the tip of the dart, sending a shockwave that reverberated into your
ears. You jumped up in joy and cried out happily, as Sam turned his head
towards you, smiling and obviously very proud of himself. You punched his
shoulder playfully.
“That was just luck! Let’s see you get all of them!”
He turned back to the board, cracked his knuckles, and
picked up another dart. POP! POP! One after the other the darts hit their mark,
popping one balloon after the other. Each time a balloon popped you felt a
similar sensation in your brain, as if things in there were being blown away
every time as well. But you didn’t worry about it, instead living in the
moment, cheering Sam on, jumping up and down next to him and crying out
victoriously with every successful hit. That didn’t seem to disturb his
concentration, as he threw the last dart, hitting his mark once again,
achieving a perfect score! You cried out happily once more, before rushing over
to him and kissing him passionately on the lips.
“Who knew I had such a talented boyfriend…” You teased him
as your lips parted, his face still very close to yours.
“I knew, and if I recall what you said to me last night, I’m
pretty sure you did too…” You punched his shoulder playfully, face reddening
with embarrassment.
“Sammy! Don’t say stuff like that in public…” You smiled as
he pulled you close and gave you another kiss. “I love you Sam.”
“I love you too Rachel.”
You felt a warmth spread through you as
your boyfriend said those words. It was far from the first time he said that he
loved you, but you still felt the same rush of contentment as the first time he
said it. You were looking into his eyes, savoring the tender moment, when you
heard coughing next to you, the employee holding out the plush Giraffe towards
the two of you.
“Sir, here is your prize, hope you had fun.”
Sam grabbed it, then handed it to you, as you started
giggling madly. You were totally going to add this to your plushy collection,
you thought as you held it up in the air and proclaimed victoriously: “I have
the best boyfriend ever!” You said it, and you meant it. You were deeply in
love with this man you were lucky enough to call your boyfriend. But as you
looked at him, and then looked around, you found yourself getting dizzy.
Conflicting information started surging in your brain. Weren’t you supposed to
be out looking for your sister or something? But that was crazy because you
were an only child! Yet you couldn’t shake the feeling that someone important,
someone named Melissa, was missing, and that you had to look for her.
Your eyes suddenly met Sam’s, as he was staring at you, an
evil smirk plastered upon his face. Then it all came rushing back in. That
wasn’t your sister, that was your wife! This guy who had been helping you find
her, he did something to you, some kind of trick to brainwash you into being
his girlfriend! Wait… You weren’t even supposed to be a girl! Staring down at
your body, instead of your usual older male body, you hate that of a young
waifish girl, petite figure, short stature, long hair, boobs, and everything.
Even your clothes had changed to match your new size and gender, fitting
perfectly on you, and hugging your brand-new curves.
Looking back up, you were about to ask the man what he did
to you, and to undo it now, when he took your head in his hands and pressed his
mouth on yours, forcing a rough kiss upon you. You gradually stopped resisting,
the kiss becoming tender as your male identity, your Richard persona was pushed
down in the deep recesses of your mind, as Rachel surged back up at took
control, kissing her boyfriend back and passing her lithe arms around his
waist, making sure to hold him close. Slowly you both let go of one another, fingers
lingering on his arm as you smiled no longer feeling panicked or worried,
instead feeling pleasant and warm. You weren’t sure why you had freaked out
just now, but seeing as you didn’t even remember, you figured it must not have
been that important, and decided it wasn’t worth trying to think about it. Besides,
you would much rather enjoy this nice evening at the fair with your sexy
boyfriend.
You heard commotion at the stand behind you, voices speaking
in an agitated manner. Curious, you both turned around to see what all that was
about. You found an older woman, probably in her thirties with a worried look
on her face, gesturing and speaking with the employee frantically, who didn’t
seem like he was able to help her. She then
turned, and seeing you looking at her, started to make her way to the two of
you.
“Hi! Sorry to bother you, have you by any chance seen a tall
dark-haired man, with a beard and glasses named Richard around? I have been
looking for him for hours… I am really worried something happened to him…”
She seemed familiar
to you, like you knew her from somewhere… Maybe one of your mom’s friends? Or a
teacher in high school? Deep down within your psyche your male persona was
screaming out at Melissa, your wife, pleading that she would recognise you and
help you change back. But it was powerless, locked under whatever spell Sam had
you under, as you kept acting like the cute and young girl you now were. Sam
spoke up, looking at the poor woman.
“Sorry… I haven’t seen anyone by that description. How about
you Rae, have you seen a man that looks like that?”
“No, I haven’t…
Besides, you know there is only one man I have eyes for Sammy dear.” You winked
playfully at him before giggling cutely, exactly how you knew he liked it. Melissa on her end let out a desperate sigh.
“Alright then… Thanks anyways.” And she turned away and disappeared into the
crowd, looking for a husband that was right in front of her, trapped in this
girl’s body. As you internally pleaded for her to come back, you somehow knew
you would never see each other again.
Sam then spun you around, so you were face to face, his
playful look fading away to a serious, anxious one. He took a deep breath, and
then started talking.
“We have been together for many years now, and even though I
think I know everything there is to know about you, every day I learn something
new, and fall in love a little more with you. You are the most beautiful girl I
have ever laid eyes on. You are playful, funny and cute, everything a man could
ever wish for in a woman. I couldn’t imagine being with anyone else, and I
would never want to. What I want, is to spend the rest of my life with you, and
to love you a little more every day. Rachel… Will you marry me?”
You were floating on
a cloud during his whole speech, heart fluttering uncontrollably, tears welling
up in your eyes. You knew what was happening, yet you couldn’t help but gasp in
surprise when he got down on one knee and produced a magnificent ring from his
back pocket presenting it to you as he asked for your hand.
“Yes! A million times yes!”
He slid the ring onto your finger as tears of joy ran down
your face. This was truly the happiest day of your life, you thought as Sam got
back up on his feet, embracing you tightly and kissing you tenderly. You couldn’t
wait to walk down the aisle, and finally be able to call him husband, and be
his pretty little wife. As he grabbed your hand and you walked towards the car,
ready to go home and celebrate the event privately in your bedroom, you
couldn’t help but think that you were truly happy, and that there was nowhere
else you would rather be in the world than by his side.
